What does a man need for his 50th birthday? Probably nothing! You are better to ask what does a man want for his 50th birthday? How do you help someone celebrate a half century (ooh that makes it sound old!) Yet 50 is not old - with the advent of great medical care we are living longer and many men are just as fit and healthy at 50 as they were at 40. We are certainly living longer - many men until they are at least seventy. So, you can play it safe with the good old gag gifts making reference to being Over the Hill or Past It (whatever 'it' is?). If you do not know the person well and have no idea what they are interested in then an age mug is an appropriate gift or a T-shirt, (although you will need to know their size for clothing purchases) and there are some great slogan T's making funny references to getting older and balder or more grey hairs!
